SIMON’S STORY
After finishing year 12, Simon had a strong desire to follow in his
father’s footsteps to create beautiful homes. He began his journey
by starting as an apprentice carpenter and joiner at 17, and then
worked through the ranks to run and supervise his father’s building
company, Paul Straka Pty. Ltd. Along the way, Simon met his future
wife Brandi, a fellow passionate creator from Canada who’d spent
time overseas building and working on high-end mountain chalets
and city estate homes. When they both returned to Australia in 2009,
Simon’s father retired and they created Straka Homes. Today, their
building company is an incorporation of their mutual passion and
experiences from home and abroad, and Brandi’s unique Canadian
style and flair for decorating.
